More important than it sounds. County, city limits and whether you're on sewer or septic all change the process and the permits.

What's wrong, or what you want
"Water in the basement every spring" or "pad for a 30x40 pole barn" is plenty. You don't need to know what the fix is.

A few phone pictures often tell us more than a long description. Text them over and we can sometimes price small jobs without a visit.

Especially if a permit or perc test is involved. Those set the calendar, and knowing your deadline tells us whether it's realistic.

Urgent situations
Some things shouldn't wait
If you've got sewage surfacing in the yard, a water line running that you can't shut off, a driveway washed out to the point you can't get in or out, or a structure that's become unsafe — call, don't text. We'll tell you honestly how quickly we can get there, and if somebody else can get there sooner we'll say that too.
Before any digging, call 811 first. Utility locates are free and required, and hitting a gas or fiber line turns a bad day into a much worse one. If you're planning to dig yourself, make that call before you start.

Before you get in touch
Do you charge for estimates?
No. On-site estimates within our service area are free. We'd rather look at the ground than guess over the phone, and you'd rather have a number that holds up.
How quickly can you come out?
Usually within a few days for the estimate visit. When work can actually start depends on the season, the weather and what's ahead of you — spring and fall are busiest. Anything needing a permit or a perc test should be started well before you need it finished.
Can you price a job from photos?
Sometimes, for smaller and more straightforward work. Text a few pictures with the address and we'll tell you whether we can quote from them or need to come out. Anything involving depth, drainage or permits generally needs a visit.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. Driveway repair, a stump, a wet spot in the yard, a shed pad. Call and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth bringing equipment out — sometimes the answer is that it isn't, and we'd rather say so than take your money.
What information should I have ready?
The property address, a rough description of the problem or what you want done, any photos you've got, and your timeline. None of it is required, but having it means we can often tell you something useful on the first call.
Why isn't there a contact form?
Because it would slow you down. Most of what we need to know — where the property is, what the ground looks like, whether there's a permit involved — comes out in a minute of conversation and would take several rounds of messages otherwise. Call or text and you'll have an answer the same day.
Do you work with builders and contractors?
Yes, regularly. Call and we'll sort out the details; prints or a site plan can follow by email once we've talked. We can work to plan elevations or to surveyor stakes and hold to a construction schedule.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We're a licensed and insured excavation contractor and we run our own trucks under USDOT 3971104. Ask to see anything you'd like to see — it's a fair question and we're not offended by it.
What if I'm not sure which service I need?
That's normal, and it's not your job to know. Describe the problem and we'll work out what it takes. Plenty of jobs turn out to need something different from what the caller expected.
